FACT: Sen. Hutchison supports abortion. In 2003, she voted to affirm Roe v. Wade. (SOURCE: Roll Call vote #48, 3/12/03, http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=108&session=1&vote=00048)

Text of resolution that Sen. Hutchison voted for:

(a) FINDINGS.-The Senate finds that-

(1) abortion has been a legal and constitutionally protected medical procedure throughout the United States since the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade (410 U.S. 113 (1973)); and

(2) the 1973 Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade established constitutionally based limits on the power of States to restrict the right of a woman to choose to terminate a pregnancy.

(b) SENSE OF THE SENATE.-It is the sense of the Senate that-

(1) the decision of the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade (410 U.S. 113 (1973)) was appropriate and secures an important constitutional right; and

(2) such decision should not be overturned.

Traci Tong (KERA) “Now you say you have a key word, viability. What in your mind is viability? If I was, say, pregnant, 22 weeks pregnant, would you support my right to have an abortion?”

Kay Bailey Hutchison: “Yes.”

Tong: “Why?”

Kay Bailey Hutchison: “Yes because to me viability is probably in the six month range, the Roe vs. Wade range 5 months, 6 months, when the baby is a baby and lives.  I do not think that people should abort live babes, but I do think that people should have the choice before that time. People should have the choice before that time.”

FACT: Senator Hutchinson supports aboriton and is trying to hide her own record from Texans who deserve to know the truth.
