Central and North Texas Dove Season Opens Today

Today the dove season opens for the Central and North Texas zones.  For those of you stuck in the office like I am on opening day here is a picture of the doves friends of mine took this morning off of Lake Granger, east of Huntsville.

Here are the Texas dove season from the Texas Parks and Wildlife website.

North Zone
Regular Season September 1-October 24, 2010 and December 25-January 9, 2011
Central Zone
Regular Season September 1-October 24, 2010 and December 25-January 9, 2011
South Zone
Regular Season September 17-October 31, 2010 and December 25-January 18, 2011

For those of you in the Central Texas area looking for a place to hunt I would suggest the Granger Lake public land in Williamson County.  You have to get a public land permit from TPWD and of course a Texas hunting license.

You may see Governor Perry out in the field, but you sure won’t see his opponent Bill White since he does not have a hunting license.
