Twitter and the Texas Legislature

Want the inside scoop on what is happening during the 82nd legislative session?  Then follow your elected officials in the Texas House and Senate on twitter and receive updates from the floor as they debate and vote on important legislation.

This is the first legislative session that will see substantial amount of attention on utilizing social media from inside and outside the pink dome and expect members and organizations try to leverage their social media presences into real movement on the legislative front.

I can just picture the in your face facebook ads and twitter campaigns that groups like Empower Texans could run against members contemplating a vote for an increased gas tax or similar tax raising legislation.  For a relatively low cost these campaigns could be micro targeted directly to a member’s district and their constituents who are interested in the issue being voted on.  All of that data you give to facebook for free is a marketers dream…
