Go Directly To Jail: Speaker Appoints Texas House Committees

Today Texas House Speaker Joe Straus appointed the House Committees.  There were some major shake ups compared to last session.  The best way to sum it is with Monopoly cards.

Some members got a bank error in your favor and collected $200, otherwise know as choice committee assignments and committee chairs.

While other members were taken directly to jail, but were able to save themselves with a get out of jail free card, otherwise known as a seniority appointment.

While other members were taken directly to jail, did not pass go, did not collect $200 and did not have a get out of jail free card in their pocket.

  3. When a Rep. is punished for representing their constituents, the District is being punished for it’s opinion.

  4. Please educate me and anyone else that is not as smart as you are or does not have the access to inside of the capitol!

    What committees are choice committees?

Which committee is viewed by you and the insiders as being the worst committee to be on?

Give us some real inside scoop on who got slapped down and who got rewarded for being a good little lapdog!

Is the corrections committee a slap to Workman and White, of which one voted for the speaker and one did not?

Explain more about these so called seniority appointments, what are they and how do they use them? When I see that Chisum got on Appropriations by a seniority appointment does that mean the speaker did not want him there but he was able to sneak on somehow? Will he have the same voting privileges that a speaker appointment grant him?

Teach me the ins and outs of what is going on so I can pretend to my friends (all 3 of them) that I am smart!
